2011 Investment Outlook - Ireland & the
World
Weakness in the US, inflation in the
Emerging Markets and the return of Greek debt woes weighed on the
financial markets in the first six months of 2011. The end of
quantitative easing in the US, ongoing unrest in North Africa and
the Middle East, further peripheral European sovereign debt
downgrades and the fallout from the Japanese earthquake and tsunami
all unsettled markets and drove down global equity market indices
in the second quarter of the year.
